All aboard for a 'railly' fun ride through some of the prettiest woodland in the north west of England.
Enjoy going behind the scenes of your favourite destinations? You'll love the two railways that wind through the wonderland that is Haigh Woodland Park.
Model Railway
5 minutes' walk heading south down the footpaths from the Hall, visitors will discover a hidden gem - Haigh Woodland Park Model Railway.
Operated by the Wigan and District Model Engineering Society and supported entirely by visitor donations, this popular attraction has been in service since the 1950s. The track is ⅓ mile long and members of the society run steam and diesel outline engines on the track.
15" Miniature Gauge Railway
Next to the Model Railway - meaning you don't have to go far to go loco with a double dose of train fun - is the 15" Miniature Gauge Railway. This railway runs along ¾ mile of track meandering through picturesque woodland, alongside small lakes and pathways.
Carriages are pulled by the railway's trusty diesel locomotives.
